My Writing Journal

Every writer has a journal or note book that they use to write their ideas and their schedules in. I know because I watched a lot of YouTube videos in November, of people showing off their NaNoWriMo journals and I was amazed at how much work they had put into them. Some people must have spent days, if not weeks putting together their journal that would last them one, maybe two months. And I thought it was all a bit overkill. But everyone does things differently, so, here’s my journal!

It’s one book, with beautiful thick paper, a magnetic closure and a pocket in the back for loose papers. Notes for any and all ideas go into this book. Everything fiction is kept together, I used to have one notebook for every idea/project, but it really didn’t work out. All the ideas, notes, chapter plans, writing and editing schedules go into this book. It does mean that notes are split up, but to make things easier, everything is highlighted and book marked different colours. So, for example, all the pink bookmarks are for Littlewolf. I can find the notes on Littlewolf easily and once I’ve finished, the marks will be removed and new ones will be used for a new project! It may all appear a bit messy, but it definitely works for me. I love having everything in one place.

Blog Journal

So, that’s my fiction journal, but I also started to use an old (unused) notebook I recently found, for blogs! I write the dates that blogs are supposed to go out and what the topic is. It’s very messy inside, but it helps to keep me on track. There’s a section for personal blogs, a section for book blogs and the back section is for brain storming ideas! I decorated it with some Tetris stickers I received in a Loot Crate years ago, to liven it up and I really like it.

I think I can keep track of two books, plus a separate diary! They all have their own pens, and are kept together on the desk, so I can’t possibly lose them…right?

I love to see what other people use for their journals/planners/whatever, it’s amazing how we all prefer different types of books to keep our thoughts in. I had thought of getting a traveller’s journal, but I just love beautiful notebooks like the one I currently have.

Paperchase is my heaven. Notebooks are a slight addiction. And schedules are a life saver.
